Sunday Evening 6pm Service: 22 March 2020

Welcome to our first online evening service!

We have chosen a few songs and hymns for this evening’s service for you to follow along with (copyright prevents us from broadcasting our own songs).

This service includes the introductory message that Rog gave at the morning service, and Jared reading the Bible and preaching from Colossians 1:24-2:5 “The Mystery Revealed”.

If you are having difficulty with the videos below you can try this link to get the main part of the service and the sermon.

As we begin consider these words from Colossians 3:16-17

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to the Father through him.

Colossians 3:16-17 (NIV 84)
Opening Hymn: Come Behold the Wondrous Mystery

The wondrous mystery, which Jared will be preaching about in Colossians 2, is all about Christ who died to rescue us from sin, and to restore us into a right relationship with God. As we read later in that chapter:

When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your sinful nature, God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins, having cancelled the written code, with its regulations, that was against us and stood opposed to us; he took it away, nailing it to the cross.

colossians 2:13-14 (NIV 84)

With that in mind, you may want to spend a few moments in prayer confessing your sins to God and rejoicing in the forgiveness you have in Christ, and then sing again:

Hymn: Saved my Soul

Before we hear from God’s Word, spend a moment in prayer for our land, the church and those in need that are known to you. After this have your Bibles ready at Colossians 1:

Bible reading and Sermon
Closing Hymn: Look what God has done

We close our time together with these words from 1Timothy:

Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honour and glory forever and ever. Amen.

1Timothy 1:17 (NIV 84)
